We are the Orion MI Stars - a passionate group of parents and teachers from Orion Alternative & Mandarin Immersion (MI) Elementary School in Redwood City. We are committed to celebrating diversity of culture and work to support Chinese language, heritage, and culture in our children’s experience. We are excited to participate in our school’s first dragon boat race so our children can experience this great tradition!

Dragon boat racing has deep roots in Asian culture, offering us a unique opportunity to celebrate our heritage while promoting a sense of belonging within the workplace. We honor these traditions through our participation and aim to educate others in our community about the significance of this sport. Beyond racing, our team engages in various activities, including training sessions, cultural events, and community outreach. When there's work to get done, we pitch in however we can, setting aside team assignments and egos. And that goes the same for the BAD Novice Sprints - no matter which team we work for at NVIDIA or job description, all of us are pitching in to paddle our best and do well in the race!

They don't need to be an expert at everything or do everything, but are responsible for the overall success of the mission, fighting for everyone to achieve it. PICs resolve ambiguity, and if anything needs to be addressed, they have it done or escalate to have it addressed. Our mission is to do the best we possibly can in the novice sprints race, and we are all the NVIDIA Pilots in Command!
